Umeebee > the concept

.
What is Umeebee?
A service that makes it easy and fun to donate to individuals in need.

Online?
Yes. Umeebee is web-based.

Who is it for?
Anyone that cares. YOU can join!

How does it work?

Organizations can contact Umeebee. Umeebee will provide a project site. On the project site, the project plan is clearly described. How much money is needed, how long will it take etc. A very important aspect of the project site, is that the people who the project is for, the recipients, can be found on the site with images, video's, a full profile. People who donate will be part of the project as well. Donors and recipients are linked together and stimulated to have personal contact. The collective image, built out of the individual images of all participants, will grow while more donors join and the project gets closer to completion.

.
What kind of organizations can join?
With a concrete plan for a project to improve child education in Africa.

Who are the individuals in need?

Children in Africa who need financial support for educational purposes. They are represented by an organization, that gathers the money from the donors.

What kind of projects does Umeebee support?

Projects that improve child education. This can be explained very widely. Some ideas; school fees for a year, food support for a few months, a one-time HIV awareness event, to build a new daycare, to create a youth centre, etc.

Does a comparable initiative exist online?

Online fundraising for non-profit purposes, yes. (see for example www.firstgiving.com )

What makes Umeebee unique?

Umeebee has a one-to-one approach, with an online possibility to join, act and see the result of your donation. You can talk with, read about and meet the person you help. Furthermore does Umeebee focus on topic (child education) and geographical location (Africa). The strenght of Umeebee is the transparency and trust that are created thanks to a social approach.
